The Ranch San Antonio Haydzonot is located on the soil of the municipality of Buctzotz, the main cattle breeding region of Yucatán. The ideal geographic conditions of this region favor this form of agriculture and, if properly managed, ensure constant yields.

With 381 ha (942 acres) of total area, the ranch offers sufficient land for cultivation. Most of the territory has the typical vegetation of the region, consisting of grasses, shrubs, and various trees. The cattle currently in the herd mostly roam freely in the large, fenced area and feed on natural resources. When needed, they gather in the ranch area with enclosures, a barn with drinkers, and the sturdy concrete structure with the 80,000-liter water tank.

The residential area of the ranch consists of the actual main house, a further residential building, and a stone chapel with two turrets. In addition, the extensive garden area with a cenote close to the residential buildings can be counted as part of the residential area. The main house has a bedroom, a living room, and a dining room as well as a large kitchen, a bathroom, and a covered terrace. Next to the cenote already mentioned, there are six further cenotes and ten waterholes of different structures and sizes on the entire ranch site which could be developed for tourist use.

LOCATION

The Ranch San Antonio Haydzonot is located in the territory of the municipality of Buctzotz, one of 106 municipalities in the Mexican state of Yucatán on the peninsula of the same name. The municipality of Buctzotz, like the municipalities of Tizimín, Panabá, and several others, is considered a key region in Yucatán’s primary sector, cattle ranching. This important region accounts for nearly two-thirds of all of Yucatán’s livestock production.

With its vast pastures, the flat land offers ideal conditions for cattle breeding but also for the cultivation of fruits, timber, etc. In addition, the water supply is guaranteed all year round. While in the rainy season, the soils are sufficiently supplied with the vital raw material by natural means, irrigation in the dry season is carried out by artificial irrigation systems. For this purpose, the ranchers of the region can rely on an almost inexhaustible resource that is unique in the world: underground, interconnected water streams that either come to light in cenotes or are tapped by wells.

The supply of the ranch with all things of the daily need takes place problem-free in the towns of Buctzotz and Tizimín. Groceries can also be purchased in the village of Sucilá. In addition to the ideal geographic conditions, the short distances to the beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and Rio Lagartos, with its important biosphere reserve, which is very popular among locals and tourists, contribute to the attractiveness of the location of the ranch.
