LOCATION

This recently restored colonial-style house is located right in the center of Mérida’s historic old town, within walking distance of the popular La Ermita and San Juan parks. The neighborhood is one of Mérida’s oldest Centro neighborhoods and is characterized by colorful, mostly one-story houses with colonial facades. Many attractions in the old town, such as the large market halls of the Mercado San Benito or the central Plaza Grande, can be easily reached on foot from the property. In addition, very good driving services are available with Uber, inDriver, and taxis to reach more distant destinations in the north of the city cheaply and quickly. In case you prefer the bus, there are also good connections at an even lower price.

Mérida, Plaza Grande

Mérida is both the capital of the state of Yucatan and the administrative seat of the municipality of Mérida. Its turbulent history dates back to the time of the ancient Mayan civilization. The city received its name in 1542 from the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Montejo, in whose honor Mérida’s main boulevard, Paseo de Montejo, was named. Numerous, splendid colonial buildings in the historic city center still bear witness to the former wealth of the city and give it a unique flair. In terms of tourism, Mérida is considered the gateway to the world of the Maya. Every year, thousands of visitors start from here to explore the world-famous Mayan sites such as Chichen Itzá and Uxmal.
