LOCATION

The idyllic town of Baca is a little more than 30 km away from Mérida, depending on the starting point, and is geographically in the northeast of the capital of the state of Yucatan. Via the Carretera 176, a modern four-lane highway that connects Mérida with Motul, and later with Tizimín, the place can be reached in just 20 minutes, starting from the starting point of the Carretera in Mérida.

Baca has many traditional highlights like the colorful colonial architecture, especially in the city center, unique spots like the cemetery, and you can go horseback riding or explore some of the region’s traditional haciendas. Less traditional but an absolute highlight and known far beyond the Baca region is the Thai restaurant “Casa de los Lotos”, where tasty Asian dishes are served in a great atmosphere in the middle of an Asian water garden full of lotus flowers, orchids, and minerals.

Its proximity to Mérida as well as the attractive beaches of Telchac Puerto and San Crisanto makes Baca an ideal place to live for everybody who is seeking to live in an original, peaceful, and picturesque Yucatecan environment with good access to the beach and Yucatan’s capital city. In order to reach Merida, you don’t even need a car. The bus and taxi connections are good and cheap.
