Cholul is a picturesque village located in the northeast of Mérida with a very beautiful village center. The name Cholul is derived from the Mayan language and means “wood in the water”. The transitions between the northern districts of Mérida and the municipality of Cholul are meanwhile fluent, and so the village was consequently incorporated into Mérida’s urban area.
For years, Cholul has been one of the most sought-after residential locations for young families and all those who would like to live in quiet, green surroundings not far from the capital of Yucatan. Outside the centrally located, historic town center with its large church and typical marketplace, the architectural image of the community is primarily characterized by modern single-family homes.
From a traffic point of view, Cholul offers the advantage of short distances to the northern districts of Merida, such as Altabrisa, with its popular mall and its excellent hospitals. In addition to that, the town is also located directly on the arterial roads that connect Mérida with the eastern part of the state (Motul, Tizimin via Mex 176) and the beautiful regions along the Gulf of Mexico.
